The Department of Corrections is seeking highly motivated and qualified individuals for the position of **Registered Nurse 2 (RN2)**, located at Airway Heights Corrections Center in Spokane, WA. **This is a relief position working a guarantied 40 hours a week. It is**** used to fill in for prescheduled staff leave, if no staff are out - the core hours default to Sun -Tues 6:00am to 2:30pm and****Wed-****Thur**** 2:00pm-10:30pm**.

Airway Heights Corrections Center (AHCC) is a 2000 bed male facility located approximately 10 miles west of Spokane. The prison consists of a main facility that houses medium- and long-term minimum-custody offenders. A separate perimeter adjacent to the main facility accommodates a minimum-security unit for offenders with minimum-custody or lower. This facility is in the process of becoming a total therapeutic community.

The Registered Nurse supports the Department's mission by leading others in the delivery of nursing services that promote health, foster healing, and support coping and adjusting to various health conditions. This position also supports the mission of the Health Services division by providing necessary, comprehensive, quality health services and promoting offender wellness.

Duties
Under general supervision, our Registered Nurse serves as a lead worker and supports the agency mission and vision by:
* Screening, assessing, and evaluating offenders and the conditions where they live and work to ensure that they are well, safe and their health care continuous.
* Responding to all other requests for health care attention in a complete, timely, clinically appropriate and therapeutic manner.
* Delegating and supervising work, monitoring, managing, coordinating, and delivering health care.
* Planning transition, making referrals and arranging follow-up when patients transfer or return to the community.
* Assisting patients to improve their skill and ability to provide care for themselves and their family.
* Counseling, consulting, teaching, advising, and providing health information that improves quality of health services and/or enhances safety and security.
The On-Call pool provides coverage in cases of extended vacation, illness, training, and other leaves of absence. On-call/intermittent staff is expected to:
* Be available to work all shifts (day, swing and graveyard) including weekends and holidays.
* Be willing to work a minimum of 10 shifts per month.
* Provide written availability by the 10th of each month for the following month's coverage.
* Be willing to complete six-weeks of full time, paid training at the Correctional Worker Core Academy, provided by the Department of Corrections.
Qualifications
The ability to obtain a valid Washington State license to practice as a Registered Nurse prior to employment; Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing; AND One year experience working as a Registered Nurse.
